Hotel Canon d’Oro is a 4-star historical residence that has been completely restructured to welcome you in the historical centre of Conegliano, in its classical style made even more precious by antique furniture and original paintings. It boasts a privileged position in the heart of the town, within walking distance of the main local attractions and perfect as a starting point to follow the fascinating Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Wine Route and to discover the countless beauties of this territory.
In the 16th century, Hotel Canon d’Oro was a mount of piety, a place created to oppose the hegemony of Hebrew moneylenders and to help the poor. The structure was initially owned by Confraternita dei Battuti, a religious order that founded the Dome and the Hospital in the town.
The building was later used as mount of piety until 1794. Privately owned since 1830, it was transformed into a hospitality and dining venue, first as tavern and later as a restaurant with rooms; today it is a full hotel. One of Veneto’s historical buildings and officially a historical dwelling since 1980, the hotel is owned and managed by the Capraro family, who offer a typical Italian family-run hospitality business.
Today Hotel Canon d’Oro is easily recognisable by its lovely façade, which was completely frescoed in 1525 by Ludovico Fiumicelli. The inferior lunette shows a painted Pietà, while against an azure sky in the background visitors can admire a great number of putti and angels amidst the clouds, some of which bear symbols of the passion of the Christ.
Located on the main historical street in the centre of the town, Hotel Canon d’Oro is the ideal starting point for those who want to fully experience the Conegliano city life. Within walking distance there are traditional taverns and other venues where visitors can enjoy an aperitif or an evening cocktail, while the famous town fair takes place every Friday morning.
Beneath the porticoes of the historical centre and across from Palazzo Sarcinelli, the home of important art exhibits, the hotel’s terrace overlooks the historical Via XX Settembre.
Behind the hotel is our exclusive inner garden, at the feet of the hill that is home to the Conegliano castle. The garden is available to all guests, for a relaxing moment during a business stay or a vacation on the Prosecco Route.
